Life Snapshots

Our own in-house Mary Poppins. In her "carpetbag", Anna has her own version of: Jane and Michael's advertisement, the mirror Mary brought, a measuring tape (and I think something else I can't remember).
Then she came "floating" down the stairs with her umbrella. The kids watched the movie several times last month and have been playing ever since (one kid Mary, one kid Bert, one kid Jane or Michael.)

Another popular game of the girls' lately is being my househelper.
Here Corrie and Anna are going to clean my bathroom (much more fun in
thispart of the world, as it involves hosing down the whole bathroom).

Abbi and Corrie doing dishes together and singing away.

Abigail created a system of roads for toy vehicles out of books,
all over the downstairs. (This is about half of it)

Vang Vieng Views

From the back of our hut.
Usually the field is full of cows.

From the main road. So gorgeous!

Don't you want to explore what's down the road?

Typical traditional houses.
There are also lots of cement-over-brick houses.

Vacation cont.

Auntie Melissa on her kayak.
(They pretended she was the pirate.)

Abigail loved exploring, and finding a
"secret passageway" back to our hut.

Corrie and Abigail dancing by the river. =)

Playing Settlers of Catan with our friends
(while the kids watched Mary Poppins).
Great fun, since we haven't played in years!

Rafting the River

This week we are on vacation.
Day one: pick up our friend "Auntie" Melissa who arrived to vacation with us.
Day two: drive 3 hrs. north to Vang Veieng, Laos, a tourist town on a big river.
Meet other friends there, a family with 3 boys and a girl on the way.
Day three: Jeff, Micah, Anna, and our friends' Daddy with 2 boys rafted down the river,
with Auntie Melissa alongside in a kayak.

Anna, Hudson, Micah, and Ezra can't wait to start!

The view of the river and mountains from our guest hut.

Corrie wanted to go too!

Ready to roll.

Fun February Fotos

The girls at a conference in Thailand; ready to perform their song for the parents!

Micah feeding pigeons at a park in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Climbing trees got "discovered" at our house a couple months ago.
Here's Micah in our rose apple tree.
("Mom, you should take a picture! Look how high I am!")

Aunt Elena teaches Micah and Anna to dance in traditional Lao style.
We were headed to a wedding. There wasn't any dancing from attenders,
but several children's groups performed dances on stage.
Our kids loved watching!

Snapshots

Snack with some neighbors on our driveway.

Fun at the playground they built along the Mekong River downtown.
(This thing turns around fast enough to get quite dizzy!)

Corrie at our gate watching cows across the street.

Our favorite climbing tree at a park in the city;
had a picnic lunch there in January with our friend Shelley!

We're sorry we haven't blogged ANYTHING in so long! Our internet was down for about 3 weeks,
then we were in Thailand at conferences for about 3 weeks (bad connection there too),
and at last we're back on track. Here are a couple pictures from Thailand and one bonus...

Micah feeding pigeons at a park in Chiang Mai.

Abigail, Anna, and Corrie ready to sing for all the parents the songs they learned at the conference in their classes.

Jeff took a bicycle trip across Laos from the Thai border to the Vietnamese border,
and took this picture of some kids in the country along the way.
